Birla Planetarium reopens doors, wows visitors with space show
Hyderabad: The BM Birla Planetarium has opened its doors for the science enthusiasts on Wednesday after a span of eight months due to Covid pandemic. Its new astronomical show, Biography of the Universe, will help the viewers gain the good knowledge about the universe.
"The planetarium has opened the doors to public with a bang, as you can view the milky way galaxy and also other major constellations appear in the sky. Biography of the Universe is a 40-minute show where it will take you to an embarking journey of the space through time and life on earth. Starting with the Big Bang, this show deals with the birth of the universe, the formation of stars and galaxies, solar system, earth and the first life on the earth," said Hari Babu, technical officer, BM Birla Planetarium.
All the Covid safety measures that include wearing a mask, hand sanitisation and thermal screening at the entrance has been followed.
Handful visitors came on the first day. Earlier the pandemic, the center had footfalls of 150 to 200 on week days and 300 on weekends. As the hall can accommodate 135 persons for each show, only 50 per cent are allowed. The show is projected in three languages English, Hindi and Telugu, added Hari Babu.
"Almost after eight months we are visiting the planetarium. I had a very informative experience from this show and with the help of the DG technology, it looked liked as we were surrounded by planets and zodiac constellations," said J Riya, a BSc second year student of St Ann's Junior and Degree College.
"I had very wonderful experience. The show threw light on the universe and its various components including the solar system, milky way galaxy and others," said Ramya Rao, resident of Domalguda.
