Patancheru: The Society Against Caste Discrimination has accused the ruling BJP at the Centre of creating a discord among people by resorting to communal slogans. Society president Athimela Manikyam addressing a meeting of activists to mark Dr B R Ambedkar's anniversary stated that the Central government's policies were posing a threat to the Constitution.

Manikyam alleged that the ruling party was seeking to conspire to give a boost to caste system. As part of the conspiracy attacks on women, dalits and minorities were taking place across the country. The party was also seeking to deprive people of their rights provided in the Constitution, he said, while calling upon people to join hands in resisting communal attacks and to protect the statute.

Manikyam accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of suppressing people's rights and agitations by resorting to repression. He said KCR had not honoured promises made to dalits, viz., giving three-acre land to each family, 2 BHK houses and graveyards.

The society leader alleged that the small lands given to dalits were being snatched by the administration in the name of constructing graveyards. He called for united struggle to protect the rights of dalits as also for achieving the aims of Dr Ambedkar.

Manikyam said the society was organising seva programmes like 'shramdan', blood donation, a health camp to mark Ambedkar anniversary on December 6. Among those present at the meeting were district joint secretary Subash, Patancheru mandal president Shankar, district committee member Jayakumar.
