Blood donation camp held on 244th AOC Day

Hyderabad: A voluntary blood donation camp was organised on the occasion of 244th Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) Day and 75th Years of the Battle of Kanglatongbi at AOC Centre recently.

The blood donation camp was conducted in honour of the brave soldiers of 221 Advance Ordnance Depot, who sacrificed their lives on 6th/7th April 1944 at Kanglatongbi, Manipur during the 2nd World War, besides commemorating the 244th AOC Day.

The above camp was conducted under the supervision of Telangana State Blood Transfusion Council (TSBTC), Hyderabad with an aim to help children suffering from Thalassemia & Leukemia (Blood Cancer) diseases. Two Blood Banks viz Indian Red Cross Society and MNJ Institute of Oncology Regional Centre, Hyderabad had participated in above camp, wherein nearly 200 Blood units were collected.

The camp was organised with the active and positive support of Brigadier JJS Bhinder, Commandant, AOC Centre and Colonel Harpreet Singh, Deputy Commandant and was coordinated by Colonel Sunil Uniyal of PMO SURAJ Hyderabad Group & Kiran Uniyal.

The real heroes of the camps were the Voluntary Blood Donors, the "Life Saviors" and all of them were hailed for their noble service and the humanity by the Commandant AOC Centre. Major General N Srinivas Rao, GOC, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area highly appreciated and commended the efforts and positive actions of Commandant and all Ranks of AOC Centre.
