Books penned by Bojja Tarakam released

Basheerbagh: On the occasion of 80th birth anniversary of noted literary critic and Dalit leader Bojja Tarakam, the books written by him were released at an event organised in the city on Sunday

The event was organized jointly by Bojja Tarakam Trust and Hyderabad Book Trust at Press Club.His books 'Antaranitanam inkana' and the English translation of compilation of poems 'The River Speaks' and 'Neeli Jenda' (a compilation of articles published in various magazines) were released on the occasion.

English and Foreign Languages University professor K Sathyanarayana, Professor Lakshminarayana Telangana State secretary of New Democracy DV Krishna, AP Raithu Sangham president Simhadri Jhansi, High Court advocate Bheema Rao and representative of Round Table India B Narendra attended the function as chief guests and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Bojja Tarakam.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sathyanaraya lamented that Bojja Tarakam did not get proper recognition for his works during his lifetime. He was known as an advocate, civil movement activist but very few knew that he had penned some of the revolutionary writings, Professor Sathyanarayana said. Bojja Tarakam's writings have started a trend of Telugu writings in colloquial language, he said.

Among those who participated in the programme include representatives of Bojja Tarakam Trust G Gnaneshwar, Neelima Bojja and others. Dappu Ramesh, noted folklore singer, captivated audience with his songs.
