Bust of Dr Kondal Rao unveiled

Ecil: Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), a Unit of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), established in the year 1971, is engaged in manufacture and supply of nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core components for all the operating Nuclear Power Reactors in India.

It is a unique facility where natural and enriched uranium fuel, zirconium alloy cladding and reactor core components are manufactured under one roof starting from the raw materials. NFC also caters to the requirements of high quality stainless steel tubes and titanium half alloy products for critical and strategic applications of the Department of Atomic Energy, Defence and Space establishments.

Dr. Nidamarty Kondal Rao was instrumental in setting up of the Fuel Fabrication Facilities at NFC and was its first Chief Executive from 1975 through the date of his retirement in 1984. The diversified innovations and pioneering contributions of Dr. Rao helped India to be self-reliant in the field of nuclear power. Dr. Rao was conferred with several prestigious National & International Awards and Honours.

On the occasion of his 95th Birth Anniversary and also to commemorate his valuable contributions, the bust of Dr. Rao was unveiled by K Balaramamoorthy, Former Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC in the presence of Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Member, Atomic Energy Commission & Former Chairman, AEC & Secretary, DAE and Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC on Monday at NFC, Hyderabad.

Srimahalakshmi, W/o Late Dr.N. Kondal Rao along with her family members attended the unveiling programme. The Event was witnessed by the presence of former Chief Executives, Deputy Chief Executives and large number of employees of NFC.
