CC road works taken up under Railway under Bridge

Talabkatta: After suffering from waterlogging for several monsoons in the past few years, the nearby residents of the RuB sighed a relief as the authorities finally started works for laying Vaccum Dewatered Cement Concrete (VDCC) roads at Railway under Bridge (RuB) in Talabkatta.

The works have been initiated following many requests and representations to the authorities. On the issue, The Hans India also published a report 'Residents urge permanent fix for nala overflow' in its June 26 edition, in which the issue of waterlogging was highlighted and residents' demand for a permanent solution for waterlogging problem under Talabkatta RuB. The works of the VDCC road works has been started recently and the officials said that the works would be completed soon.

Speaking about the ongoing works, Talabchanchalam Corporator Nasreen Sultana said that the works were started last week by GHMC under RuB in Talabkatta and an amount of Rs 18 lakh were sanctioned for the works.

The road cutting has been completed and 2 feet road has been dug up and the VDCC road has also been layed on the one side of the RuB and soon the next side will also be started and the entire works would be completed within 20 days of time, she said.

It may be mentioned here that the locals have pinned their hopes on the newly elected MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri from Yakutpura constituency who had made several visits to the area in the recent months. The residents have been hoping that he would resolve the issue by undertaking permanent works. Last year, Pasha Quadri had visited the area after the heavy downpour and promised of fixing the issue by finding a permanent solution.

During rainy season, the water under the RuB gets waterlogged for three to four feet causing inconvenience to the residents of nearby houses and shops. Commuters also suffer as the waterlogged only clears after more than an hour, said Mohammed Hameed.
