Ameerpet (NSS): Cheneta Chaitanya Vedika is organising it's 29th Chenetha Santha – Handloom Weavers' Market, at Nagarjuna Nagar Community Hall here from July 12 to 14. The Vedika is a non-profit, non-registered platform created to promote the cause of the handloom weavers. It has been organising a regular market called Chenetha Santha for the weavers once in 2 months in Hyderabad since January 2015, to enable weavers to have direct access to consumers so that it can help them enhance their sales and benefit them directly.

Why handloom? It doesn't use electricity. It is an eco-friendly fabric, and only natural fibres are used. The production and consumption of energy from fossil fuels is the biggest cause of global warming. Thus, using handloom is not just an option but is a necessity in these days of climate change. Also, in the hot weather conditions that we have in India, handloom fabrics are also skin-friendly and are the true breathable fabrics. They are good for health and good for the environment besides increasing livelihoods.

Ponduru khadi fabric and Jamdani sarees, Sarees from Bobbili, Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Uppada, East Godavari, Kota (Rajashthan), Gollabhama Sarees from Siddipet, Pen kalamkari sarees, dupattas, wall paintings, Organic Cotton fabrics and ready mades from Tula – Chennai, Warangal carpets and door mats, Dress materials from Chirala, Kanagala, Khadi towels and fabric from Nagarkurnool, Kalamkari duppattas, sarees, dress materials from Pedana, Cloth bags from Pondicherry, Banjara Handicrafts from Ellamma Tanda, Eco friendly pens and pencils, incense sticks, leaf plates are available in the Market.
