Picket: The Government High school (Girls) in Picket that comes under Secunderabad lacks a few basic amenities.

Lack of proper maintenance is one of major reasons the students are not being able to use the toilets. The ratio of washrooms in proportion to the number of students is also very less. Before 2015 the school was all girls school but later was converted into a co-education institution.

A few boys from the government school informed about the poor sanitation facilities in their schools. They said many a time they did not feel like using the washrooms because of lack of cleanliness and no proper water facilities in the washrooms.

There is always an unpleasant smell due to which they hesitate to enter the washrooms. Washrooms also do not have proper doors, which leads to avoiding the use of toilets by the students.

Speaking to The Hans India, Chamundeshwari, principal, Government High School (Girls), Picket, said, "There are a total of 260 students out of which 180 students are girls and 80 students are boys. In 2015, the admissions for boys were also started in this school to make the students interact with their classmates."

She further added, "However, there are only 2 washrooms allotted for boys. There is lack of cleanliness in these washrooms. This is not only a trouble for the boys but also for the male staff in the school. Due to improper door, they unwillingly have to go out for sanitation."
