CITU lambasts move to weaken workers rights

Charlapalli: The CITU on Sunday organised a workers' rally to protest against the Bill introduced in Parliament by the Central government, weakening workers' rights allegedly at the instance of corporate forces.

CITU Medchal district unit secretary G Srinivasulu accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "sacrificing the interests of workers after failing to secure foreign investments during visits to various countries." He claimed that foreign investors had assured him of investments if the labour laws were amended.

The CITU leader criticised Modi for failing to keep the government assurance of creating one crore jobs every year and for increasing the rate of employment by resorting to changes in the labour laws. He called for protests against the government's anti-labour policies.

Among the participants in the rally were CITU Charlapalli unit treasurer M Srinivas Rao, leaders Md Rasool, P Srinivas, Muniswasmy, B Ravi Kumar, Narsimha, Balakrishna, Vasanth Rao, Malleswara Rao, Mamilla Rao, Tirumala Raju, Basha and Raji Reddy.
