Civic body trashes pleas to clear garbage, set up bins
Secunderabad: Residents of SCB are sore that that various open nalas, including those at Trimulgherry football ground, Chinna Kamala Road, Laxmi Nagar and Sripuri Colony, have become a floating dump of alcohol bottles, plastic, domestic waste and commercial waste. The main reason for the dumping in nala is lack of garbage bins SCB area.
Residents claim that SCB officials are selectively taking action on open nala issues. Recently SCB took up a massive demolition drive but only in a few places at Marredpally, Kakaguda, Bolarum and Picket."There are many commercial and provision stores in our colony and they are dumping trash in the open ground near the electric substation. In spite of multiple complaints to SCB officials no action is taken," said Praveen Ramlal, a resident of Sri Nagar colony.
"Though there are many factory outlets and shopping complexes on Trimulgherry main road, there is only a single garbage bin opposite RTA office and it is the only garbage bin provided by the SCB. Due to this many, commercial waste is being dumped on the roadside, "deplored N Venkata Ramana, a resident of Malani Enclave
"Similarly in other areas, there are no garbage bins in Bowenpally market yard, Marredpally, Lal Bazar Road, Dairy Farm Road. Garbage is dumped in open lands or on the roadside. After many complaints, they come and clear, but after a few days you can find garbage back on the roads," said Abhilash Reddy, a resident of Lal Bazar.
