CM KCR felicitates PV Sindhu
Hyderabad : Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that by winning the World Women Badminton Championship, PV Sindhu became a pride of the country. The CM assured that the government would make all arrangements for Sindhu's preparations to take part in tournaments in future. He said Hyderabad had become a platform to prepare sportspersons to compete in the international tournaments.
PV Sindhu accompanied by her parents, coach P Gopichand, Badminton Association general Secretary Chamunderswarinath met the CM at Pragathi Bhavan here on Wednesday. Sindhu showed to the CM the gold medal she won at the World Championship. She also presented two Shuttle Racquets to the CM.
The CM felicitated Sindhu with shawl and a flower bouquet. Minister Srinivas Goud, Sports Authority Chairman Venkateshwar Reddy, DGP Mahender Reddy, Police Commissioners Anjani Kumar, VC Sajjanar, Mahesh Bhagawat. IG Intelligence Navin Chand participated.
"PV Sindhu enhanced the nation's prestige. By winning the World Championship, Sindhu stood apart among the 130 Crore Indians. This is a moment of pride for all of us. This is not an easy task. Rigorous practice, concentration and dedication are needed. One cannot reach to this stage without lot of hard work. Sindhu's parents, being national sportspersons themselves, have groomed Sindhu well. Gopichand gave good coaching.
Now Hyderabad is becoming a platform to train international winners. This is a welcome development. Sindhu should take part in many more tournaments; she should go for the Olympics. The state government is ready to extend all support and arrangements to her to get prepared to participate in the tournaments in future," the CM said.
