Musheerabad: Everyone has a responsibility to protect the environment, observed the former Adviser to TRS government and ex-MP, G Vivek, while interacting with vegetable/fruit sellers in Chikkadpally after distributing solar pushcarts donated by Dr Ambedkar College Management.

Addressing the traders, Vivek stated that the solar pushcarts were manufacturers by his firm Visakha Industries as its social responsibility and distributed free of cost to traders in an attempt to create awareness on the need for protecting the environment.

The 320-watt solar panels fitted to pushcarts generate 1,200 watts of power. Each pushcart costs Rs.40,000. The panels, with a plug point and lights, could be re-charged anywhere with items placed on the pushcarts and used at night for five-six hours. With facility for re-charging mobiles, the panels would store power if kept exposed to sun for longer hours.

Vivek called upon the people to plant saplings and take care of them till they become trees, thus boosting greenery and protecting the environment. Among those present were Visakha Joint Managing Director Vamsi Krishna and Saroja Vivek.
