Colourful water bowls beckon winged visitors
Madhapur: Animal Water Bowl Project (AWBP) organised a water bowl painting event at Biologica Grounds, near Shilparamam on Saturday. A group of volunteers engaged in painting the earthen bowls.
The main aim of this project is to ensure that stray animals do not suffer because of the unavailability of water and also get fresh water around the clock throughout the year. As many as 15 volunteers participated in this event and apart from elders even school children showed their enthusiasm. They painted almost 500 earthen bowls, 150 smalls bowls with a capacity of two or three liters and 250 big bowls with a capacity five-six liters. The bowls were also given a number so that the bowls can be tracked.
Lakshman Molleti, founder, Animals Water Bowl (AWBP) project, said, "We conduct water bowl painting event in different parts of the city in Hyderabad every month. AWBP has distributed around 1,700 bowls in Telangana and 100 bowls in Mumbai and Chandigarh free of cost." The AWBP team would be monitoring the distributed bowls once a week to check whether they are clean and filled with fresh and safe water.
It is our responsibility to take care of animals, we have to take out some time from our busy schedule and give time to the species. As a citizen, we are responsible for their habitat so we only must take care of these stray animals. Apart from bowl painting, an interactive session with the volunteers took place.
