Colourfully mystique

Update: 2019-05-09 00:36 IST

A psychedelic array of paintings by Dolzie and Anuradha Bhala are on display at The Alliance Francaise auditorium. The exhibition displays abstract colourful artworks which teleports one to a fantasy of colours as each painting speaks a story of its own.

Nearly all paintings were made without the use of brush, as they were an acrylic pour of paints directly on the canvas. The paintings were even more appealing because the artists used unique materials and techniques using alcohol inks and materials like resins, texture paste, egg shell and copper foil altogether gave a new dimension to the paintings.

A fascinating element in the paintings is that most of them were unidirectional i.e. by tilting the painting towards any angle it's a painting on its own. The beautiful colour splash was not just a piece of magic because of its beauty but also because of the meaning hidden behind the painting, urging us to contemplate about different aspects of life.

One of the paintings depicts an eye where the colours between the iris and sclera show a transition from the darkness of the unfortunate ones who are not bestowed by the gift to see the world, to others who have this privilege and thus urging us to be grateful for it and donate our eyes after death as it could be one of the greatest gift to someone to look at this colourful palette of which the world is a creation.

Another painting portrays a woman's face outline and the colours fading away and that of a man below showing the same in an opposite direction, signifying the different thought processes of men and women.

Overall, walking amidst these exceptionally well done pieces is nothing short of a visual pleasure where one can be lost inside the awe inspiring stories they speak of.
