Congress leaders warn against illegal arrests

Patancheru: Congress Corporator Shankar Yadav and party leader Sapanna Dev on Monday alleged that a 'Tughlaq rule' was going on in the Telangana State, with a warning that illegal arrests won't stop the party's agitations.

Addressing the party workers, Congress town party unit president Narasimha Reddy and other leaders condemned the arrest of the party activists while they were on their way to participate in a protest programme at the Secretariat. They alleged that the TRS was adopting anti-people policies during the last six months.

Referring to the proposed construction of a new Assembly building in Erram Manzil, the Congress leaders pointed out that when the present building was found suitable for 294 members during the unified State, it was unfortunate that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was going for a new structure believing in superstitions like 'vastu' and wasting taxpayers' money. They questioned the need for a new secretariat when KCR did not bother to visit the Secretariat.

The Congress leaders alleged that the law and order in the State was deteriorating which was evident from the rising instances of rapes of children and attacks by TRS leaders on the police. They strongly criticized the 'illegal' arrest of the party activists and warned that the State government would have to face an agitation in the coming days. Several Congress leaders and activists were present n the occasion.
