Constitution Day celebrated at Patancheru

Patancheru: The 70th anniversary of the adoption of Indian Constitution was celebrated here on Tuesday by the Scheduled Castes Rights Protection Association. Its state president Rudraram Shankar stated that the Constitution had conveyed the country's greatness to the world.

He garlanded the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar and administered a pledge to the staff of Ameenpur, Chitkul and Isnapur municipalities, besides the residents of local industrial estate. Addressing the gatherings, he recalled framing of the Constitution by Dr Ambedkar on November 26, 1949.

Shankar stated that Dr Ambedkar played a key role as chairman of the seven-member committee in writing the statute in 11 months and 18 days and handed it over to the government on this day 70 years back.

He described the statute as the 'biggest written document in the world'. Among those present were association district general secretary Dappu Yadayya, and representatives Venkatesh, Sriramulu and Raju.
