Cops rescue 284 kids from labour in July

Rachakonda: Under the Operation Muskaan-V programme in Rachakonda Commissionerate, eight exclusive teams traced several child labourers and freed them from work in July. During the operation, a total of 284 children were rescued, of whom 188 children belong to other states.

As many as 25 cases were registered against 40 accused persons under the Child Labour Act-1968 and Juvenile Justice Act for procuring the child labourers. On July 13, the cops rescued 54 children hailing from Bihar state in Balapur police station limits. They were working in bangle decoration works at Osman Nagar and Habeeb Colony.

In another instance, four children were rescued in Vanasthalipuram police station limits working in various shops at Auto Nagar, Vanasthalipuram. In another case three children were rescued in Saroornagar police station limits for procuring the child labour in shops at Near Konark Theater in Dilsukhnagar.

The rescued children were handed over to Child Welfare Committees (CWC) for their rehabilitation. After completion of 164 Cr.P.C statements they were handed over to their parents/guardians through CWC.
