Hyderabad: Coronavirus vaccine software dry run has kicked off in Telangana. The Centre has shortlisted Telangana and Rajasthan for the software dry run, informed Director of Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao while speaking to newsmen on Wednesday.

COVIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) application has been developed for vaccine and beneficiary tracking. It may be mentioned here that as part of Immunisation programme of various other vaccines, eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) is already under implementation in Telangana for last three years for inventory management of vaccines, and logistics at state, district and PHC level and real-time tracking of vaccine and temperatures up to last Cold Chain point.

COVIN application is additional functionality that will be useful to track beneficiaries. eVIN-COVIN training has commenced at Boggulukunta PHC in Hyderabad for online order management and other relevant topics.

Meanwhile, Dr Srinivasa Rao informed that Telangana has prepared the list of frontline health workers who will be first administered with the Covid vaccine once it is ready. First, one dosage will be given and it will be followed by another after three weeks and the vaccine effect lasts up to 9 months, he added.
