Osmania Univsersity: CPI National Executive member and former MP Aziz Pasha and City Council secretary E T Narsimha on Monday demanded a judicial inquiry into the 'irregularities' committed by the Osmania University Academic Council and in the filling of EMMRC posts.

They condemned the preventive arrest of the Students' JAC leaders who had warned of stopping Governor E S L Narasimhan at the OU convocation during the day. The leaders were agitating against the irregularities and demanding action against those involved.

Among those taken into preventive custody were AIYF State secretary R N Shankar, State leaders Kompalli Srinivas, Satya, PDSU leaders Dubba Ranjith, G Shyam, Rakesh. They were shifted to the OU police station, along with some others who tried to meet the Governor. The CPI leaders called on the detained students and expressed their solidarity.

The CPI leaders alleged that EMMRC director Prof Narender had 'sold' for Rs.10 lakh each three posts of researchers to Andhras, out of 14 posts. They contended that inaction of V-C Prof. Ramachandram against the professor has given scope for doubts.

Among those present during the CPI leaders' visit to the police station were CPI district working committee member Chaya Devi, M Narsimha, Rakesh Singh, S A Mannan, leaders of Students' JAC.
