CPM to protest for cut in Metro Rail fares

Musheerabad: CPM, Greater Hyderabad Central city committee, in a press note released on Monday, condemned the state and the central government's silence over hike in Metro fare against concession agreement signed by L&T and state government in the year 2010. It is surprising that state and central government remained silent over the issue although common people were burdened with the price hike, the press note read.

While the union minister Kishan Reddy made a hue and cry over not inviting him for inauguration of Metro JBS-MGBS line, he did not make any comment when fares were hiked. CPM condemned L&T for increasing the fares although it received huge funds and lands from central and state governments as part of the agreement. Condemning inaction of state and central government in preventing L&T from hiking fares, CPM will stage protest in front of Metro Rail Bhavan on February 28, the press note said. The city committee urged people to sign an online petition started in this regard to pressurise the government to decrease fares.
