Crying beneficial for a healthy life

Hyderabad: Crying is a natural response that humans have against a range of emotions, including sadness, grief, joy, and frustration. But many have always questioned does crying have any health benefits. It is not unusual to cry, and both sexes cry more than people may assume. Interestingly, humans are the only animals to shed tears.

Crying releases toxins which helps to relieve pain, stress, aids sleep and enhances mood. Many laughter clubs are accepting and adding crying therapy in their sessions to help members relieve their pain.

The city experienced its first-ever crying therapy with an aim to help individuals in letting go their inner dejections and grudges. Crying also plays an important factor in life to stay healthy like laughing does. To drive the point, Always Be Cheerful (ABC) Laughing Club, Secunderabad, came out with a unique idea of starting the 'Healthy Crying Club' initiative in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Collaborating with 27 ABC laughter clubs around the twin cities for the first time in South India crying programmes 'Tears to Cheers' was organized by ABC laughing club at Shree Gujarati Seva Mandal, Secunderabad, on Sunday from 9 am to 11 am.

The session was addressed by Kamlesh Masalawala from Surat who is the first laughter teacher in the world, a TEDx speaker and the founder of 'Healthy Crying Club' along with Padmashri Dr Saibaba Goud and Dr A K Purohit, Neuro Surgeon, NIMS, Hyderabad.

Kamlesh Masalawala, Founder of 'Healthy Crying Club' said, "Both the emotions are gifted to us by the Almighty and it is our sole responsibility to use and express which will keep us mentally fit. Laughter sessions are conducted every day but once in a month we all gather and let out all our emotions by crying which is beneficial for all. We started 'Healthy Crying Club' on June 25, 2017, along with Dr Mukul Chowsky, psychiatrist, Dr Nirmal Choraria and Dr Trupti Patel. After starting the session, people come to thank us as we helped them in some way to let out their inner dejections and they have a certain relaxation on their face as they leave from the session that's what makes me happy."

"Just how laughing is important to have a healthy mind, same way crying also benefits keeping the mind healthy. But many people ignore this fact and don't cry. Not crying for a long time can make you into an emotionally disturbed person, crying is like a way of venting out all your emotions which is necessary in order to live a happy life. Seeing the idea of crying club introduced by Kamlesh Masalawala, we decided to start the sessions in Hyderabad and Secunderabad too. That's why for the first time in South India we came up with an initiative named 'Tears to Cheers' which will spread awareness and will share benefits of crying." said, A V Satyanarayana, chairman, ABC Club, Hyderabad.
