Cultural events mark Gandhi Jayanthi at JNTU

Kukatpally: A variety cultural programme was organised during Gandhi Youth Conclave by 1,500 NSS volunteers from various colleges on JNTU-H campus on Wednesday to mark the 150th Jayanthi of Mahatma Gandhi. Participants in the event remembered Gandhiji's ideals and aspirations and said they should be inculcated by present-day youth.

Rajender Reddy of Gandhi Global Family, the chief guest, while throwing light on the valuable contributions made by Father of the Nation, laid stress on how the present generation could learn lessons from them and achieve its goals.

A Gandhi 'padayatra' was organised in which Rector Prof Govardhan and Registrar Prof Yadayya participated in it. University NSS Programme Coordinator Prof. Narsimha explained to the volunteers Gandhiji's philosophy, and advised them how to move ahead in life by upholding Gandhian ideals.

NSS Programme Officers and volunteers of various colleges took a pledge to follow Gandhiji's principles. State NSS Coordinator Prof. Vishnudev said the JNTU-H NSS unit was ahead of others in efficiently conducting various programmes. State Youth Affairs Officer Vipin suggested that more such events should be organised. JUNTU-H students also participated in 'Bathukamma' festivities.
