Customised rakhis are a rage this year

Hyderabad: People are choosing customised rakhis over traditional ones. Starting at Rs 10, rakhis are available in various shapes, sizes and designs in the market. Eco-friendly, reusable, cartooned, customised and crafted rakhis are trending in the city.

Handcrafted rakhis always occupy a special place in hearts of customers. Eco-friendly rakhis are made from clay and infused with seeds like Karanj (Millettia Pinnata) and Golden Shower tree (Cassia Fistula). Craftsmen use natural colours like turmeric, rice paste and others to colour the rakhi threads naturally.

Even the packaging has taken a new look. Waste clothes are up cycled for packaging and coconut husk and 'chuka' leaves (sorrel leaves) are used as cushions. These boxes are available online between Rs 200 to Rs 2,000.

Earlier cartoon rakhis were designed to grab the attention of kids but now cartoon rakhis are designed to attract even adults. This year a number of rakhies with the PubG theme have hit the market. The game is popular among youth and rakhies are designed based on PubG vehicle, battle ground and battle guns.

Mansi Lalwani, owner, Customised Rakhi at Gosha Mahal says, "PubG rakhis with light and sound are fast-selling items this year. Along with the kids, the youngsters and few adults are showing interest for PubG rakhis. Ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 400 cartoon rakhis are always hot selling."

Many are also choosing rakhis made of wood which can be kept forever. Neha, a student, says, "I like the idea of my brother keeping the rakhi as a memory forever."

These Wooden rakhis have messages engraved on it and also can be used as a fancy bracelet. Sister can choose her favorite lines to engrave on rakhi as it is fully customized. The online shopping site Amazon is providing 60% discount on wooden rakhis made by Engrave India costing Rs 150 per rakhi.

Accessory rakhis are specially made for officials, dignitaries and for the brothers who choose to be classy. This rakhi adorns a striking leather belt look with a dial at the middle highlights the secrete message of sister engraved in it.

The design of rakhi gives a feel of an accessory. This rakhi can be worn on casual & Indo western attires even after the festival. The online shopping site Jpg is setting a new trend with this latest official rakhis. Starting from Rs 350 these rakhis are royal in sales.

Cz rakhis present the royal feel and are available in pink, green and blue colored semi precious stones with add on kundan work. Options to personalize the rakhi by adding photograph in the middle with amazing stone work around it is attracting more riches.

These Cz rakhis are also attracting consumers by presenting paachhi designs with oxidized beads. These royal rakhis are in greater demand than ever before, says Suman, a retail shopkeeper in Ameerpet. Ranging from Rs 150, these rakhis are available online and offline in Hyderabad.
