Dalits feel ignored by Centre and states
Baghlingampally: National coordinator of Dalita Sangharshana Samithi (DSS) Nalla Radhakrishna alleged that the BJP government at the Centre and TRS government in Telangana State has ignored the welfare of dalits. He was participating in the fifth conference of the Samithi held at the Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Radhakrishna said that there was not even a single scheme initiated by the Central government for the welfare of Dalits during the last five years. The BJP government, with its focus on the Kashmir issue, Triple Talaq Bill and surgical strikes, has done nothing for improving the living conditions of the Dalits, he lamented.
Similarly, Radhakrishna said that the TRS government, with its focus on Kaleshwaram project, has not thought about dalits' welfare and the budget allocated for their upliftment by both the State government remained only on paper. Several schemes which were announced for the welfare of Dalits and minorities have not been properly implemented, he alleged. A body of the state DSS was formed after the meeting, he added.
The meeting, presided by the state convener of DSS PG Sudarshan, was attended by the recipient of Kendra Sahitya Academy Award Dr Gaddam Mohan Rao, general secretary of Karnataka DSS D Ramesh, AP DSS president Damodaram, general secretary of Maharashtra DSS DasharathPolimera, coconvenor of Telangana DSS Koteshwar Rao, Andhra-Telangana coordinator Mamidipalli Bapaiah, general secretary of women DSS Anjali, secretary Vanitha, Hyderabad DSS president Krishna Pujari and others.
