Dana Kishore conducts surprise inspections
Hyderabad: M Dana Kishore, the GHMC Commissioner, on Tuesday conducted surprise inspections at Bapughat and Bapunagar of Karwan circle to assess the implementation of the 'Saaf-Shaandaar Hyderabad' programme. Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Musharaf Ali, Deputy Commissioner Sudam Shah, Medical Officer Dr Ravi were among those who accompanied him.
During the inspection, the GMHC chief made enquiries with the residents regarding collection of garbage from houses, keeping the surroundings clean, timely sweeping by GHMC sanitation staff and holding of awareness programmes by representatives of NGOs specially appointed for the programme.
Addressing the residents, Dana Kishore stated that 'Sampurna' Swachh programmes would be taken up during the next three months in coordination with NGOs, Mahila Swacch women activists taking 2,500 houses as a unit in each ward in the city. He explained that the programme envisaged residents segregating waste and carrying them to Swachh autos, ensuring no water wastage, implementing plastic ban, and special steps to prevent dumping of garbage in open places.
He also mooted setting up of special Swachh committees comprising local women, youth, senior citizens for creating awareness among the colony/basti' residents not to dump garbage in open spots.
Residents of Gandhinagar complained to the GHMC commissioner that a local vacant area had become a garbage point because of dumping. They suggested serving of notices on the owners of vacant areas to lift garbage from the spots.
