Daredevil acts by Sikhs during Nagar Keertan
Afzalgunj: On the occasion of 550th Prakash Utsav celebrations, Sikh community organised a 'Nagar Keertan' (Holy Procession) from Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Afzalgunj on Saturday. Rendering of Shabad Keertans, carrying of Nishan Sahebans and Guru Granth Sahibji on a well-decorated vehicle, and exhilarating display of Gatka skills, a Sikh martial art form, were part of 'Nagar Keertan'.
A major attraction of the procession was Kalgidhar Dashmesh Jatha and other Gatka Jathas displayed their exhilarating 'Gatka' skills by performing extraordinary exercise with their blunt weapons, Kirpans, swords skills and other breathtaking performances attracting passersby all along the procession routes. Kada Prasad, tea and snacks were also distributed among devotees all along the routes.
The procession started at 4 pm from Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Afzalgunj passed through Siddiambar Bazar, Jambagh towards Putli Bowli, Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda and reached Gurudwara Singh Sabha in the evening.
It may be mentioned here that, On the day of Prakash Utsav which is marked on November 12, a grand 'Vishaal Deewan' (mass congregation) will be held at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally starting from 10.30 am to 4 pm.
