Darulshifa : Elocution competitions on Prophet's life held

Darulshifa: As part of weeklong Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, elocution competitions were held amongst the 'visually impaired' at Government School for Blind (Boys) in Darulshifa on Tuesday. The Hindu students bagged top three prizes and drew accolades for being acquainted with a subject which is out of their curriculum.

In these competitions, Ashok (10th class), Babu (8th class) and Bharath (6th class) won first, second and third prizes respectively, while Subhan (9th class) and Ibrahim (5th class) stood at 4th and 5th positions respectively.

The fluency with which the students elaborated the life history of Prophet was mesmerising. The programme was organised by the women's wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Prizes were distributed by school teachers Afroz Anjum and Rupali. Later, the organisers also distributed snacks and chocolates amongst the students, bringing smiles on the faces of the specially abled.

The school teachers lauded the efforts of the JIH, which encouraged the students to speak up on a different subject, apart from curriculum. Aisha Sultana, city secretary of women's wing, Kafeelunnisa, Saleha, Tahura and Humera took part.
