Dazzling aerobatic show enthrals all

Hakimpet: The 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Indian Air Force (IAF) Station in Hakimpet on Saturday. Hundreds of students who gathered at the station were in awe of the acrobatic formations by a six-member team.

Rahul, a student of Army Public School, said, "This is so inspiring. These memories will stick forever. Four of my friends and I want to join the forces. We are just bowled over by the acrobatics." The students were especially mesmerized by the 20-minutes Surya Kiran aerobatic display.

The audience was also witness to the rescue operations that are carried out during emergencies such as floods. A 2.20 Chetak helicopter's role was exhibited. It may be noted that on several instances, the helicopter shifted injured jawans during the war.

Senior officers said that operation 'Safed Sagar' was vital in shaping the war's successful course and outcome for India. A static display of Kiran and Pilatus aircraft, Chetak helicopter and equipment was also organised to enable students to have a glimpse of them.
