Rajendranagar: The delay in supply of ration to Fair Price Shops (FPS) in Rajendranagar by almost a week has left the ration dealers perplexed and people were seen returning in exasperation watching the shops remain shut.

Generally, the ration is supplied from a godown at Kismatpur preceding five days to every new month. However, this time the rice and wheat were not supplied by Monday. Attapur, Lakshmiguda and Rajendranagar were the areas which did not receive the supply from the concerned godown.

Though some of the areas like Hasan Nagar, Indranagar, and few other areas have received the same on Sunday afternoon. But a number of fair price shops in several areas under Rajendranagar, remained yet to get the stock.

The in-charge at Kismatpur godown, Jagan Mohan, informed that primary supply to the Rajendranagar area was made through the supplier from Khammam district.

"At times, the supply is also made from Timmapur, Charlapalli and Sanatnagar beside the neighbouring districts like Mahboobnagar, Nalgonda and Warangal. As of now, 45 points are in pending but by today itself, we will clear 20 points by the night and the remaining will finished by tomorrow," he informed.

When contacted, the Assistant Manager (Civil Supplies), Ranga Reddy district, informed that the delay was due to lack of local outlets linking the two connecting points.

Meanwhile, those returning with empty hands found this to be ineffective functioning of the official machinery. "Until now we have seen delay in disbursement of Aasra pensions, but now we are experiencing the same in provision of ration at fair price shops," said Mohd Afroz, a disabled person from Hassan Nagar area under Rajendranagar.
