Baghlingampally: CPM leaders demanded the state government to install a new statue of Dr Ambedkar at Panjagutta and to punish those responsible for desecrating the Ambedkar statue.

They were speaking at a state seminar on the topic, 'Install the Statue of Ambedkar – Punish the Offenders,' here at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Tuesday. State secretary of CPM Tammineni Veerabhadram, Professor Kanche Ilaiah, Nalla Surya Prakash and several other leaders of people's organizations attended the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, the CPM leaders questioned as to why the statue of Dr Ambedkar was removed from Panjagutta on the pretext of lack of permission, when the statues of leaders, such as YS Rajashekhar Reddy and Gandhi, were left despite lack of permission. Leaders alleged that the CM K Chandrashekar Rao has been prejudiced towards those who follow Dr BR Ambedkar's ideology.

They emphasized the need for red and blue forces, indicating communists and dalits, to be united to fight discrimination against those who follow Ambedkar's principles and ideology.

They warned the state government of severe consequences if the Ambedkar statue is not installed at Panjagutta. The leaders urged the media to help them in their fight against the state government. Veerabhadram said that the resolutions passed in the seminar would be sent to the state governor and state government officials.
