Doctors Association For Relief And Education organises 7 medical camps

Charminar: To provide access to free medical check-up, consultation and medication for underprivileged, the DARE (Doctors Association for Relief & Education) organised about seven medical camps from September 20 to October 13 in different localities, mostly slums across the City.

In view of the denizens attracting seasonal and dengue fevers, the DARE, in coordination with Al-Khair Society and Jamaat-e-Islami Hindi (JIH), held free medical camps in MD lines area (Tolichowki), near 18-seedi masjid (Golconda), Haridaspura (Langar Houz), Bapu Nagar (Amberpet), Hasham Nagar (Langer Houz), Suleman Nagar (Rajendra Nagar) and Doodhbowli (Bahadurpura). Besides this an eyesight screening and cataract detection camp was also organized at Nazeer function hall in Hakeempet (Tolichowki) by Al-Khair Society.

Speaking to The Hans India, Md Muneeruddin, Secretary, Al-Khair Society, said that the latest 'Free Medical Camp' was held at New Model High School, where free consultation and free medicines were also provided.

The 'Free Medical Camp' held at Doodhbowli benefitted about 500 patients from Khilwat area. The Puranapul corporator Sunnam Raj Mohan inaugurated the camp. Three general physicians, six dentists, six eye specialists and a team of women assistants provided service. "The camp was attended by people irrespective of caste and religious background," said Muneer.

Khilwat Unit president of JIH, Yousuf Ali Khan said that this kind of welfare activities would continue in the coming days. "With the active help of DARE and doctors from Muslim Maternity and Children hospital, similar camps will be organized," he said.

Muneer said that in the eyesight screening and cataract detection camp held in Hakeempet on September 29, about 250 people were benefitted, while 85 screened for free spectacles.

While around 40 cases of cataract were found out of which 11 patients were immediately referred to Sadhuram eye hospital in Himayathnagar, who were shifted in a hospital van. Karwan MLA, Kausar Mohiuddin also made a visit to the camp, as Chief Guest.
