Drug Control Administration mulls stringent action against errant pharmacists
Rajendranagar: Drug Control Administration under Rangareddy District is contemplating to act tough against the errant pharmacists who were found running the business, throwing all the rules to the wind.
According to official sources, the deadline (15 days) provided to furnish explanation for the violations committed by the pharmacists came to an end and a large number of recipients were yet to file their explanations.
"Though we have issued about 35 notices to the errant owners for violations, only few of them filed their explanations while a large number of recipients are yet to furnish the clarification. Hence, the officials are contemplating to act tough against these errant owners for the violations they have committed in their premises," said an official, on condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention here that officials of Drug Control Department from Rangareddy District have started a campaign against the pharmacists from earlier this month after reports of over the counter (OTC) sale of medicine were published in a section of media.
From beginning of this month, the officials carried out raids in Sulaiman Nagar, Shastripuram, Chintalmet and Mailardevpalli under Rajendranagar Zone where violations were reported.
Later they targeted Hassan Nagar, Indra Nagar, Mahmood Nagar, Chintalmet and MM Pahadi wherein similar kind of violations were found. With this, suspicion of the officials became more entrenched who unleashed a comprehensive drive against the practice adopted by the pharmacists.
Drug Inspectors from Rajendranagar, Serilingampalli, Saroornagar, Hayathnagar and Vicavarabad Zones under the supervision of Assistant Director, Rangareddy District Anjum Abida cracked a whip against the pharmacists from Chandrayangutta to Shamshabad.
