Rajendranagar : The officials of Drug Control Administration Rangareddy took a stern action against 22 Pharmacists for flouting of rules while selling the drugs. The authorities, after suspending the licenses of errant pharmacists temporary for 5 to 12 days, have closed down their shops on November 1.

Notwithstanding the sealing off 22 errant pharmacy shops, the DCA officials are planning to continue closure of shops of those who fail to file their explanations to notices served on them earlier.

According to an official, 22 medical shops of Shamshabad, Hassan Nagar and Chintalmet areas under Rangareddy were closed down after they failed to file their explanations on the notices issued by the DCA.

It is pertinent to mention here that DCA while cracking the whip on the pharmacists in different areas took a serious note of violations like over the counter (OTC) sale of drugs, sale of medicines without prescription and sale bill. Later on, the officials issued notices to 35 errant shop owners for the violations they committed on the premises while selling the drugs.

"Depending upon the notices the action have been taken and enforced suspension of business for 5 to 12 days according to the violations by the owners," said Lakshmalla Raju, Drug Inspector (Rajendranagar Zone), Drug Control Administration.
