Drunkard attacks son with blade

Allwyn Colony: Residents of the colony were shaken shocked on Friday when an alleged drunkard stated to be deaf and dumb and mentally unstable, Rambabu (50), attacked his son, Pavan Kumar, a Class 7 student with a blade on the neck.

The boy sustained bleeding injuries. The neighbours rushed Kumar to local government hospital and informed his mother Varalakshmi over phone. She alerted the police who visited the hospital and made enquiries about his condition.

The motive for the alleged attack was that Rambabu, said to be usually drunk most of the day, was agitated because Kumar did not respond to his call. Pavan, a student of St. Joseph's School, was stated to be playing a game on his mobile. He did not go to school because of rain. Kumar writhing in pain attracted the neighbours' attention as he ran out of the house screaming for help.
