Drunken driver of pvt college held; bus seized

Patancheru: A 'drunken' bus driver of MNR Medical College was caught by the Transport department and police during a joint check of vehicles of private educational institutions near tollgate here on Monday. The bus was on its way to the college from Lingampally. The breathliser test of the driver showed 201. He was taken into custody and the vehicle seized.

The transport department staff and the police looked for fitness certificates, emergency exits, health kits, driver licences under the supervision of MVI Raja Mahmood and Traffic CI Venu Kumar. They collected fines from one auto and 12 buses.

Mahmood told The Hans India that notices have been sent to all educational institutions in the Patancheru area. He warned that school buses if operated without relevant documents would be seized. The MVI said the checks would continue daily for two months in view of re-opening of schools after the summer vacation.
