Osmania University: Prof. E Suresh Kumar, vice chancellor, The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, led a plantation drive at the university park as part of "Go-Green Initiative," on Tuesday.

The vice chancellor said that only fruit-bearing trees were being planted in this drive. He observed that it was not planting a sapling but relocating a tree that would grow well in a short time. This is the fourth plantation drive on the campus with well grown trees planted at an even distance to make the park look greener.

The vice chancellor said that the campus, though looks green and lush, was deprived of fruit-bearing trees and through this drive this issue would be addressed. He added that the plantation at the campus from now on should include shade-giving trees and fruit-bearing trees to strike a vegetative balance.

The trees planted would bear the name of the planter to inculcate a sense of ownership and to impart proper care for the trees planted. Prof Suresh Kumar, to the applause of the students and staff, informed that the university was consecutively awarded first prize in 2018 and 2019 at the Garden Festival organised by the Government of Telangana.

Dean, Campus Planning and Development; Proctor; Dean, Students' Welfare; members of faculty; and a good number of students participated in the plantation drive.
