English and Foreign Languages University holds workshop on Hindi studies
Tarnaka: Prof E Suresh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University, (EFLU), organised one-day international workshop on 'Translation and Comparative Studies in Hindi Literature: Problems and Solutions' here on Tuesday. The workshop was organised by the Department of Hindi, the EFL University.
Prof T Samson, Dean, School of Literary Studies, delivered the presidential address while the Keynote address was delivered by Prof Gopal Sharma, Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sharma highlighted the importance of translation of literature and other texts from and to Hindi and other Indian and foreign languages. He reiterated that the translation should be close to the original writing so as to create the same effect that the original piece of writing would have.
The workshop was attended by many students and scholars from across the country, and members of the faculty of the EFL University. Dr Shyamrao Rathod, Head, Department of Hindi and Coordinator of the workshop thanked Prof E Suresh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, EFLU, for his support. The workshop was well received and appreciated by the participants.
