Everything in place for smooth polls, says Police Commissioner Joel Davis

Siddipet: All the arrangements have been made to conduct the first phase of local polls in a peaceful atmosphere, said Police Commissioner Joel Davis. He explained about various activities being taken up for the smooth conduct of polls and about the directions given to the candidates.

In the first phase, elections for ZPTCs and MPTCs are to be held in Siddipet Urban, Siddipet Rural, Narayanaraopet, Nangunur, Chinnakodur, Thoguta, Mirdoddi, Dubbak, Daulatabad and Raipole mandals. Two additional DCPs, four ACPs, 12 CIs, 30 SIs, 410 ASIs, head constables, constables, 70 armed reserve police officers, 70 home guards, 18 personnel from Excise Department, and 12 forestry officers are deployed for the security purpose, the CP said.

A total of 627 security personnel, including 10 flying squads, starter survey team (1), Mobile Parties (35) and additional forces, are being deployed, he said. The police commissioner said that 16 troubled centers have been identified in the first phase and special surveillance at these centers will be provided for monitoring.

Section 144 is in force from May 5 to 7, in view of first phase elections, he said. The section is applicable to the mandals around the polling centers. He made it clear that there is no permission for victory rallies, meetings and gatherings. Siddipet Police Commissionerate, MPTT, will be in the first phase of the elections to the polls from, said Joe Dewis.

Sections will be running in the neighborhood zones of the election centers. Triumph rallies and meetings are not allowed. Legal action will be taken against those violate the rules, the CP warned.
