Ex-officio votes hold key to deciding next Mayor
Hyderabad: Ex-officio votes are going to play a major role in electing Mayor posts in GHMC by various political parties. However, TRS has advantage, as it has the highest number of ex-officio votes.
In order to be elected as Mayor the candidate should get a number of 102 votes. In GHMC there are 52 ex-officio votes in which 38 votes belong to the TRS Party which means TRS only needs 64 more votes for Corporators to reach a magic figure of 102 votes to be elected as Mayor.
Elections will be held in 150 divisions in GHMC on December 1, 52 ex-officio votes in these divisions belong to MLA's, MPs, MLCs. The TRS party has already started to execute the plan to capture the Mayor post without fail and also trying to take support from MIM if TRS does not get a clear majority. While TRS already has 38, MIM party has 10 and BJP has 3 ex-officio votes in GHMC. To capture the GHMC Mayor post TRS needs only 64 divisions whereas, MIM needs 92 divisions and BJP needs 99 divisions to capture the GHMC Mayor post.
38 TRS ex-officio votes consists of 17 MLA's, 17 MLC's and 4 MP's while 10 ex-officio votes of MIM consists 7 MLA's, 2 MLC's and 1 MP. 3 ex-officio votes of BJP consists 1 MLA, 1 MLC and 1 MP.
