Farmers told to beware of spurious seeds

Patancheru: Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) Usha advised farmers of the mandal to be careful about spurious seeds during this Kharif season. She was speaking at an awareness camp organized for farmers on spurious seeds held at Pedda Kanjarla village here on Tuesday.

Addressing the farmers, she said that the State government has banned HT cotton seeds as it causes harm to the environment. She alerted the farmers how the seed companies and agents try to sell spurious seeds to them beguiling them with false assurances of less labour and weed protection.

She cautioned them to be aware of such fraudsters who try to sell spurious seeds. She urged the farmers to purchase the seeds from only those vendors who were certified by the State government. Several farmers and agriculture department officials participated in the awareness program.
