Faulty traffic challans put people in a tizzy

Rajendranagar: Faulty traffic challans uploaded online by the traffic police are entangling the commuters into trouble with the officials concerned. When such issues arise, the latter ask citizens to approach them in person to get the issue resolved.

In one such case Mohammed Jahingir, a resident of Hassan Nagar under Rajendranagar, was baffled when he saw an online challan pending in his name. He noticed that neither he nor his vehicle appeared in the picture uploaded by the traffic police.

Finding fault with the way the online challans are being generated by the traffic police, he said, "I used to drive vehicle of "Hero Honda" model with a registration No. AP09 AK 8924 but the same is not in use for a year and lying at home. Though the vehicle carries two challans in the year 2017 and 2018 for not wearing a helmet at Puranapul and Bahadurpura under Bahadurpura PS limits, the third challan was generated recently on 31st January 2020 with the same violation, but the photo clearly shows neither the vehicle is of the model I used to rise nor the person moving on the bike is me," informed Jahingir.

The official asked him to visit the PS physically if he wanted to get his issue resolved. "I used to live in Hassan Nagar under Rajendranagar area and Golpalpuram Traffic PS is almost 20 km away from the exact location I used to live. The faulty challan uploaded by the traffic police put me into trouble as I have to take a few hours out of my daily routine to get the issue resolved by visiting the PS physically or have to wait for two weeks to get it done through online mode," Jahingir added.

"Physical appearance with the challan slip is must in such as cases as we have to check whether the challan is generated erroneously or someone else is using the vehicle with same number," contended Vijay Kumar, head constable, Traffic PS, Gopalpuram.
