Fix drainage overflow, plead harried people
Suchitra: The area beside bus stop is facing an acute problem of sanitation and civic workers are visiting the area to clear garbage. Several complaints to the GHMC have gone unheard, say the people living in the area, and rue that clogging of drains has become a daily affair.
S Meghna, a pedestrian, said, "It has become difficult to stand here due to the foul smell coming from the drainage with various waste materials being dumped in it. Officials do not take care of the road and the drainage that overflows, which disturbs the locals."
T Anil, a local, said: "The sewerage water has been flowing on the road for the past few weeks and is also posing a problem to the passersby. Moreover, the water logging is leading to mosquito menace and attracting animals to the area. It is also emitting foul smell, which is becoming unbearable. There is no proper drainage system in this area."
Drainage overflow is slowly turning into a common problem in different localities of lity and locals are complaining that these remain untouched by the civic staff, despite lodging several complaints with the civic body.
