Floral festival concludes
A large number of women descended on Tank Bund on Sunday to participate in the huge celebrations of Saddula Bathukamma on the last day of the floral festival of the Telangana state. They worshipped Gauri Devi in the form of Bathukamma and took part in the dance and song programmes with zest and gaiety.
The nine-day festival began with Engili Pula Bathukamma and culminated on Sunday. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's wife Shobha Rao was among the dignitaries to take part in the festivities. Department of Culture and Tourism organised the festival and made all arrangements for the grand celebrations. "This is the biggest festival celebrated in the state of Telangana.
After the formation of the state, Bathukamma was declared as the state festival. It is a 9-days festival where girls and women of different age dance with enthusiasm and excitement in front of Bathukamma," All Yadav Women Wing Chairperson Bonthu Sridevi Yadav told ANI. Processions started from LB Stadium and ended at Tank Bund.
