Free health camps in disease-prone areas
Hyderabad: To prevent spread of seasonal diseases in this monsoon season, GHMC has been organising free special camps in the problematic areas in the city. The corporation has decided to conduct at least 200 free health camps across the city from September 1 to 15 with the help from the medical departments of Rangareddy and Medchal districts. In July and August, GHMC has conducted 950 free medical camps in the city.
Additional counters for patients have also been opened at all the major hospitals, such as Gandhi, Osmania and Fever hospitals. Apart from conducting fogging and spraying of anti-larvae chemicals, medical and entomology officers of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal districts and GHMC have held periodic review meetings to monitor the situation.
Zonal commissioners were also instructed to organise free health camps in their respective areas. Officials were instructed to focus on areas where seasonal diseases were reported in the last season.
Health assistants, health supervisors, ANMs, Asha workers and entomology staff have been actively participating in this drive and creating awareness among people. Public announcement systems were arranged to Swachh autos to give publicity on observing dry days on every Friday and measures to be taken to prevent water stagnation.
