Funds sought for basic facilities at SW Gurukul hostels
Patancheru: State Vice-president of KVPS Manikyam on Wednesday demanded allocation of funds to Social Welfare Gurukul hostels for providing basic facilities.
He was interacting with students during a survey on problems facing SW Gurukul schools taken up by KVPS in Chitkul SW Gurukul schools. He inspected dining halls and kitchen rooms in the hostels.
Later Manikyam stated that spoiled vegetables were being supplied in the hostels which also faced water scarcity. The students were facing severe hardship because of non-fixing of motor to a borewell. Amounts in thousands were being spent daily on drinking water. He pointed out that girl students were facing inconvenience due to insufficient classrooms. They were forced to study in dilapidated rooms.
The KVPS leader demanded immediate filling of vacant teacher posts and increased mess and cosmetic charges to be in tune with rising prices, as those being paid were inadequate. He alleged that the Revenue department was indifferent to the encroachment by an organisation of 2.5 acres of the school, while demanding criminal cases against it.
Manikyam warned the government that KVPS would hold a student agitation if it failed to act on the demands. Among those who accompanied him were district unit vice-president Shankar, joint secretary Subash, district committee members Jaya Kumar, Santosh, Chandrasekhar.
