IT corridor in Hyderabad breathes easy, thanks to WFH

Gachibowli: With most of the IT employees still working from home in view of the Covid pandemic, the IT corridor under Cyberabad Commissionerate limits continues to breathe free with less pollution, as traffic remains low for more than eight months from now.

During the pre-Covid rush hours all the five working days of the week used to witness heavy traffic in all the major junctions of the IT corridor. As most of the employees are still working from their native places, the traffic remains minimal on any working day, when compared to the pre-Covid days.

When compared to AQI in areas like Bahadurpura (165), Hyderabad US consulate(153), Sanath Nagar (162) and Bollarum (166), the pollution level in Hi-Tec city and IT Corridor seems to be low. The Air Quality Index stood at 124 at Hyderabad Central University,

Even the officials have acknowledged the fact about the present situation. Speaking to The Hans India, S M Vijay Kumar, DCP, Cyberabad Traffic, said that following the announcement of the lockdown, the IT employees started working from home, hence the traffic has not picked up till now when compared to the earlier days.

"As of now the Traffic at the IT Corridor is very less," he said. It is believed that the situation would remain the same till June 2021, as most of the companies have asked their employees to work from home till then. Even the IT employees are happy to work from home, as the companies are bearing the expenses for providing all the required equipment including computers, printers and even furniture like desktop and chair to ensure they are comfortable.

Errabelli Kamal, an IT employee and resident of Bowenpally working at Accenture, said "My company officially announced that the employees can work from home till the end of July 2021. With that most of my friend's natives of Vijayawada, Warangal, and Nizamabad went to their respective native places and working from there."

"I work for IT Company in Hyderabad and I am a native of Karimnagar, whereas my company asked us to work from home till July. I came to Karimnagar as I don't need to go to the office and I can work from home and I spend time with my family and with that I can work from home", said G Deepchandar, IT employee, who is a resident of Gunfoundry.
