Ganesh Utsav panel told to ensure safety

Kapra: Uppal MLA Bethi Subash Reddy and GHMC Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy attended a review meeting in the Kapra circle office on Ganesh immersion with representatives of the Ganesh Utsav Committee. They advised the committee to take all the precautionary measures to ensure that the immersion of idols takes place without any hitch.

Addressing the meeting, the MLA and Corporators Pavani Reddy, Anjaiah and Devender Reddy laid stress on use of clay Ganesh idols so as to protect the environment. They advised the organisers of Ganesh pandals in colonies to ensure that people do not face any traffic hurdles. Subash Reddy urged them to be alert against any mishaps during the immersion of idols.

Srinivas Reddy said the officials concerned would take up sanitation works, install power supply equipment, arrange cranes and barricades, mobile toilets and anti-mosquito fogging operations. He said an officer to oversee the works being taken up by various departments should be always available.

Reddy advised the formation of a WhatsApp group to coordinate with officials of various departments so as to be able to take immediate action. He wanted the arrangements to be put in place for the immersion of idols from the third day onwards and advised the police to ensure fool-proof law and order.

Members of the Ganesh Utsav Organising Committees and the MLA thanked the GHMD DC for providing permissions to Ganesh pandals and arranging lighting at junctions en-route to the immersion procession.

Among those present at the meeting were Kapra GHMC Deputy Commissioner Dasarath, Executive Engineer Koteshwara Rao, Girish Kumar (L&O), HMWS & SB GM Krishna, Health Officer Maithreyi, Project Officer Indira, Kapra MRO Nagamani, Traffic Circle Inspector of Police Sitharam, Roads & Buildings department officials Ravinder and Hanuman, and members of Ganesh Utsav Committee.
