Ganesh Utsav Samithi felicitates officials at Musheerabad

Musheerabad: Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS), Musheerabad, here on Friday, felicitated GHMC, police and other government officials, who played a key role in conducting Ganesh immersions peacefully in the city.

The programme was organised by convenor of BGUS, Musheerabad committee, Vinay and was attended by BJP state president Dr K Lakshman, Chikkadpally ACP Narsimha Reddy, Musheerabad GHMC Deputy Commissioner Uma Prakash, executive engineer Narayana, AMHO Hemalatha, CIs Venkat Reddy, Srinivas, Prabhakar, traffic CI Narender, SI and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr K Lakshman said that the Ganesh festivals are celebrated across the nation irrespective on religions and castes to instil patriotic feelings among people. The celebrations were started by noted freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak primarily to instil nationalistic feelings during the freedom struggle, he said.

Dr Lakshman congratulated GHMC, police and officials of various government departments who ensured that the celebrations were conducted peacefully without any untoward incident. He urged officials, BGUS members and youth to see that clay Ganesa idols are installed at every house and immersion is done at house itself to reduce pollution.

Referring to the PM Modi's call to avoid use of single-use plastic, he urged youth and officials to work for creating awareness on hazards of using plastic and see that plastic use is controlled. He thanked all the government and GHMC officials who worked hard for peaceful conduct of the celebrations.

Various officials of GHMC, Law and order, traffic and officials of other departments were then felicitated. BGUS leaders Shivaji, Babu, Shakthi, Ganesh Anand, Umesh, Kumar, Anil Yadav, Naveen and others attended the programme.
