Ganja peddler held

Meerpet: The Rachakonda Police detained a drug trafficker, Kamoji Kondal, in Meerpet police station limits on Thursday. The accused has been involved in three cases of ganja trafficking in the limits of Rachakonda and in Andhra Pradesh since 2017.

Earlier in June, Meerpet police arrested Kamoji Kondal and four others for ganja trafficking. The police said Kondal, 31, a barber and Subedar Vinod Singh hailed from Nagarkurnool and Hyderabad respectively. While other accused P Teja, V Nagarjuna, Ch Chinnabbai hailed from Chintapally and Vishakapatnam of AP State.

The accused Teja, Nagarjuna, and Chinnabbai procured ganja from the locals in Chintapally area at the rate of Rs 1,500 per kg and transported it to Hyderabad in private travel buses. They sold ganja to Kondal at the rate of Rs 2,500 per kg who in turn sold it in retail at higher price.

On a tip-off, Meerpet police arrested the five accused on June 11 and recovered 185 kg of ganja, one car, a bike, 6 cell phones and Rs 30,000 from their possession and remanded them to Judicial custody. The main accused Kondal while facing trial in the court continued to indulge in drug trafficking soon after coming out on bail. The police sent him to Cherlapally Central Prison on Thursday.
