Garbage burning by GHMC irks locals
Neredmet: The people of East Kakatiya Nagar, Old Safilguda and Secunderabad have been complaining to the GHMC that its workers are burning garbage on alternate days in their localities, thus, polluting the atmosphere and causing them lot of hardships. But the corporation is yet to pay heed to their pleas to stop the practice.
Even though the State government through a law prohibited the burning of garbage and also imposing a penalty up to Rs 25,000, the GHMC workers still continue to burn the garbage.
"The GHMC workers who come to clean the roads don't take the garbage with them, but instead, burn it there itself causing pollution. We have stopped them many times but they get very rude. They have burnt many small saplings that were planted on the road this is increasing day by day and they don't fear anyone," said a local resident, while speaking to The Hans India here on Monday.
